MORNING
A. INTROS, INTERESTS AND GOALS SURVEY
B. GO OVER AGENDA
C. MS OFFICE APPLICATIONS
Assignment: As we cover concepts, think of what you want to create during the day. Later, work with a partner or team. Create one NEW activity using a MS Office application that you will go back and teach your students to use.
Consider that like most of us, our students long for community, thrive on honest appreciation, want space and time to explore their own skills, and learn by doing.
Consider also that we like to be able to see that we are learning. That’s what rubrics are for. Use rubrics for each assignment. http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php

CARTOONING -
http://www.readwritethink.org/student_mat/student_material.asp?id=21 - The Comic Creator invites students to compose their own comic strips for a variety of contexts (prewriting, pre- and post-reading activities, response to literature, and so on). The organizers focus on the key elements of comic strips by allowing students to choose backgrounds, characters, and props, as well as to compose related dialogue (shown at left).
· Retell a familiar story using the Comic Creator.
· Illustrate newly-learned vocabulary words.
· Recreate a favorite cartoon or graphic novel with the Comic Creator.
· Create a comic strip with a partner: one person can illustrate the comic strip while another crafts the text to accompany the illustrations.
